Why see a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery?

Plastic surgery is a fascinating surgical discipline that can draw on a wealth of different surgical methods to solve a wide variety of problems and patient requirements. No other discipline in medicine combines craftsmanship, art and precision to such an extent.

Qualification as a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery includes at least 6 years of further training after studying human medicine. This is followed by numerous further training courses and fellowships. No other specialist discipline offers anywhere near such a standard.

Only those who have completed this long qualification phase can then call themselves plastic surgeons or specialists in plastic and aesthetic surgery.

The biggest problem today is the term “cosmetic surgery”. This is not legally protected, meaning that any doctor – regardless of their professional qualifications – can – and unfortunately does – work under the term “cosmetic surgery”.
