In principle, there are two treatment methods for treating the gummy smile. They differ fundamentally in the duration of the treatment result. Both procedures target the muscles of the mouth and, as a consequence, visibly lower the upper lip. In this way we can contribute to a harmonious smile.

Method 1

Treatment with muscle-relaxing agents

In the minimally invasive treatment with muscle-relaxing agents, the relevant muscles in the upper lip area are temporarily put out of action, which is why the effect is limited in time to a maximum of 4 months.

The treatment takes approx. 30 minutes, requires no anaesthesia and only involves a stay for the treatment itself – with no restrictions on work, sports or social activities.

Method 2

Surgical lip repositioning

Surgical lip repositioning is a minor surgical procedure in which the relevant muscles and the mobile gum tissue are specifically modified, so that the resulting effect is permanent.

The procedure takes approx. 60 minutes and is performed under local anaesthesia. In addition to the treatment, a stay for aftercare is required; you should pause work, sports and social engagements for at least one week.
