That depends on the size, build and physical condition of the patient and is determined individually by the treating doctors. To prevent circulatory problems, no excessively large amounts are suctioned off at once.

How long does water retention last after a liposuction?⌄

The water used during the operation is excreted naturally within a few days.

What is a liposuction?⌄

The word means fat suction. It is composed of the two Greek words “lipo” (fat) and “suctio” (suction) and refers to the surgical procedure for removing excess body fat that has been established since the 1970s.

How long do I have to wear compression garments after a liposuction?⌄

It is advisable to wear compression garments for at least 5 to 6 weeks to support the healing process and reduce swelling and bruising. Follow your doctors' instructions precisely.

Can I gain weight again after a liposuction?⌄

Yes. Even after a liposuction, you should ensure sufficient exercise and a healthy, balanced diet so that the result is not impaired by weight gain. The remaining fat cells can no longer multiply, but they can grow.

When does health insurance pay for a liposuction?⌄

A liposuction is generally only covered by statutory health insurers in the case of a diagnosed stage 3 lipedema – and only when lymphatic drainage, compression garments or exercise therapy no longer bring relief.

How long am I not allowed to do sports after a liposuction?⌄

Sports should be avoided for at least 5 weeks after a liposuction.
