Anaesthetising the tissue

On the day of the operation, the tissue is anaesthetised via a fine cannula with a solution of water, a local anaesthetic and adrenaline.

Liposuction with the body-jet®

Depending on the treatment area, one or more small incisions are made. A thin cannula loosens the fat cells with the fine water jet and suctions off the fat-water mixture directly. During the procedure the surgeon can precisely check and adjust the results.

Wound care and follow-up treatment

How much fat can be removed?⌄

This depends on the patient's size, build and body composition and is determined individually by the treating doctors. To prevent circulatory problems, excessively large amounts are not removed at once.

How long does water retention last after liposuction?⌄

The water used during the operation is excreted naturally within a few days.

What is liposuction?⌄

The word means the suctioning of fat. It is made up of the two Greek words “lipo” (fat) and “suctio” (suction) and describes the surgical procedure for removing excess body fat that has been established since the 1970s.

How long do you have to wear compression garments after liposuction?⌄

It is advisable to wear compression garments for at least 5 to 6 weeks in order to support the healing process and to reduce swelling and bruising. Please follow your doctors' instructions exactly.

Can I gain weight again after liposuction?⌄

Yes. Even after liposuction, you should ensure sufficient exercise and a healthy, balanced diet so that the result is not impaired by weight gain. The remaining fat cells can no longer multiply, but they can grow.

When does health insurance pay for liposuction?⌄

Liposuction is generally only covered by statutory health insurers in the case of a diagnosed stage 3 lipoedema, and only once lymphatic drainage, compression garments or exercise therapy no longer provide relief.

How long do I have to refrain from sport after liposuction?⌄

You should refrain from sport for at least 5 weeks after liposuction.

From what age can you have liposuction?⌄
